    ADS-B Antenna, +5 dBil Omnidirectional

+5 dBil Omnidirectional ADS-B antenna (Automatic Dependent Surveillance–Broadcast) designed for reception and/or transmission of all ADS-B signals. It supports both ADS-B Out frequencies of 978 MHz and 1090 MHz, as well as 1030 MHz interrogation channel. It may also be used to receive tracking data from large/high altitude airplanes and low-flying smaller craft, including some drones (future requirements). The antenna provides an omnidirectional gain of +5 dBi, linearly, vertical polarized within the spectrum of 970-1100 MHz. Weighing only 200 grams, it is lightweight and sufficiently rugged for infrastructure, vehicle and viaried platform use.

The Array is effective as a transmitting antenna to interrogate aircraft transponders at the ADS-B In frequency of 1030 MHz for airport operations. It may be networked with other identical antennas for beamforming and selective interrogation. For infrastructure applications, the UL-1032-701 supports an RF input power of 25 Watts CW. A higher power variant, model UL-1032-701W, supports an average RF power of 50 Watts and a peak power of 200 Watts at a duty cycle of 25%. For greater power applications, please contact us.

Use this ADS-B omni antenna where a rugged, high-gain omnidirectional antenna is required. It may be used at fixed sites (ACC-0007 Mount is compatible for wall and mast installations), on mobile platforms (ACC-0010M + ACC-0003 Mounts) or as a portable antenna (ACC-0010M Mount).

The UL-1032-701 antenna array is available in Black (normally stocked color), White, Grey, Olive Drab and Desert Sand colors. Other colors are available by special request, by specifying the FED-STD-595 color code. Please contact us for any special requests.

    ADS-B System Overview

The ADS-B (Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast) system is a critical component of modern air traffic surveillance, providing real-time aircraft position, velocity, and altitude data to ground monitoring stations. This system operates on two primary frequencies: 1090 MHz (1090ES) and 978 MHz (UAT - Universal Access Transceiver). The 1090 MHz frequency is used globally for aircraft operating above FL180 (18,000 feet), associated with international standards established by ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) and RTCA DO-260B. The 978 MHz UAT frequency is designated for aircraft flying below FL180 within the United States of America, delivering enhanced traffic and weather information primarily for general aviation.

Ground-Based Operation with the UL-1032-701 Antenna

The UL-1032-701 antenna is specifically designed for ground-based ADS-B operations, supporting both ADS-B Out and ADS-B In capabilities. In a ground station configuration, ADS-B Out transmissions from aircraft are received by the antenna, providing vital real-time tracking data to air traffic controllers and surveillance networks. Simultaneously, ADS-B In, at 1030 MHz, allows the reception of broadcasted traffic and weather information, facilitating seamless data integration into ground-based monitoring systems. This ADS-B ground antenna operates efficiently across the 1090 MHz, 978 MHz and 1030 MHz bands, ensuring signal integrity.

    Compliance and Build Quality

The UL-1032-701 is built to meet FAA and ICAO standards for ground surveillance installations, making it an ideal choice for airports, air traffic control facilities, and private monitoring stations seeking reliable ADS-B data reception and processing. Its lightweight, yet rugged construction and optimized design allow for stable, high-performance operation in a wide range of environmental conditions, supporting critical infrastructure for real-time aircraft monitoring and traffic management.

When used in conjunction with our LNAU-1030-648 ADS-B Low Noise Amplifier/Preamplifier and Filter, the overall performance of the ADS-B receiving system is made stable, regardless of long coaxial cable losses, optimizing system sensitivity by maintaining a low Noise Figure, to pull out distant aircraft that would otherwise not be received and acquired.
